The Georgia Tech College of Management is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Intersections MBA Case Competition to provide MBA students from premier international programs with the opportunity to develop their analytical and communications skills. The focus of the competition is the evolving partnership between the corporate and non-profit communities. This partnership is critical to addressing the complex and multifaceted nature of issues and challenges facing societies.
Many of those earning MBA will elect to spend the majority of their careers in the corporate community. Some will choose to earn a living in the non-profit sector. Regardless of the primary focus of their career, many will have the opportunity to serve on the boards of non-profit organizations. This case competition will provide students with insight into these roles.
Teams: Invitations will be sent to the top 50 MBA programs in the world. Those programs invited will select a team of four students to represent their program. The competition will consist of 12 competing teams. Last year’s participating MBA programs were Kellogg School of Management, Wharton Business School, Emory’s Goizueta School of Business, Purdue’s Krannert School of Management, Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Management, and INCAE Business School from Costa Rica. Last year, the top three finishing teams were: 1st prize – Kellogg, 2nd prize – INCAE, and 3rd prize – Emory.
Timing of Event: The Intersections MBA Case Competition will occur in late January or early February of 2009. The exact weekend will be determined by June of 2008. Competing teams will arrive on Friday morning and conduct their case analysis by Friday evening. Judging and other related events will occur on Saturday with the event culminating at the Saturday evening awards banquet.
Sponsors: The Georgia Tech College of Management would like to thank our corporate sponsors and partners from the inaugural Intersections case competition: Accenture, Bank of America and the Georgia Tech Institute for Leadership & Entrepreneurship
